Putting the Art Back in Language Arts
We believe creativity is key in seeding abstract concepts and making them concrete. The curriculum is based on the original three educational principles of:
Direct instruction of the concepts and skills of language
Delivered through multi-sensory strategies

Sequenced by Logic Links: Concepts and skills in their dependent order

From the Teachers Point-of-view
Rolling up their sleeves and actually solving the problem.
Together Victoria E. Greene and Mary Lee Enfield, PhD. used their combined 50 years of classroom experience to create the Language Circle® curriculum.
Much of the curriculum was created to address the daily challenges they were facing with their at-risk students. They started with a hypothesis and began implementing an alternative curriculum in their own classrooms. In 1969 their hypothesis turned into a district wide Pilot Study. Over the next 25 years, they studied how students responded to their techniques. With every facial expression, every gasp, every test, they got to experience first-hand how students reacted to their teaching strategies. They tracked changing attitudes and scores, making adjustments to the curriculum as needed.
Together Victoria Greene and Dr. Mary Lee Enfield work to ensure the success of their curriculum. Their responsibilities include:
· Presenting courses, workshops, and seminars in school districts, for foundations, and for various organizations throughout the United States.
· Supervising 40 Language Circle® Consultants working nationwide conducting Language Circle®/ Project Read® training courses.
